Thanks to Sarah for the heads up!

RISING Hollywood star Saoirse Ronan will meet director Jim Sheridan this week to discuss a potential new film project.

The 16-year-old told the Irish Independent that she wants her next feature to be an “Irish film”.

“I want to work with Jim Sheridan because he has made some of the most fantastic Irish films: ‘My Left Foot’ and ‘In the Name of the Father’,” she said.

“Every person I have spoken to admires Jim because he is real and honest. That’s why he has such a brilliant reputation.”

It seems the feeling is mutual, with Sheridan confirming he is very taken by the work of the Carlow teenager, who first came to international prominence in 2007 aged 13, co-starring in the film ‘Atonement’.

“Saoirse is probably the best young actress in the world right now,” he said.

Her most recent release was ‘The Way Back’, for which she won Best Actress in a Supporting Role at last weekend’s IFTAs.
